Oude Tart Reserve is a Flemish-style red ale aged in oak barrels. This blend is comprised of only the best barrels from our cellar, hand-selected by our Bruery Terreux production team, blended exclusively for our 2018 members. It's pleasantly sour with hints of leather, dark fruit and toasty oak. While this is one of the more classic beer styles that we make, it's not a style that you can find too often in the United States. Originating in style from the Flanders region of Belgium, near the French border, this dark, sour ale has roots deep in brewing history and predates most of the ales that have become popular in contemporary culture. We're doing our best to keep the tradition alive by brewing and aging this beer here on the west coast.
Dominant impressions of latte coffee with powerful chocolate aromas in the nose. The alcohol esters are enveloped with hints of autumn wood, citrus zest (orange, lemon) and freshly baked biscuits. The initial taste is sweetly sinful. Beer and chocolate trapped into one single glass, a liquid milky draught with a backbone of bitter malt. The alcohol warms the throat and, in the finish, you will pick up traces of cloves, citrus, orange and mocha. The heaviest of the Rochefort beers, the 10 is a quadrupel style beer and can be recognized by its blue label.
Upright Brewing specializes in farmhouse inspired beers rooted in France and Belgium but made with a Pacific Northwest twist, while also dabbling in both classic and quirky projects from around the world. The name references the primary instrument of Charles Mingus, a musician whose compositions defy categorization. At Upright the recipes and processes are decidedly unbound, making for true hybrid styles that share Mingus’ spirit of exercising creativity and craft.
Prairie-vous Français is a celebration of simple elegance. This farmhouse ale is brewed to be refreshing. We use barley, oats, and wheat to build a foundation for Saaz hops and Brettanomyces bruxellensis to play. You'll find this beer to be slightly tart and a touch hoppy.
A symbol synonymous with Bellwoods Brewery; our White Picket Fence has undergone a complete overhaul and its repurposed form much better reflects the direction of our brewery. Brewed with the addition of wheat, oats, and rye, WPF is fermented and conditioned in foeders for 6 months, blended with fresh saison, then gently dry-hopped before bottle conditioning. Labour intensive in process, but rewarding in result.
Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon Barrels. Deep ebony hue with a beautiful mahogany head, an aroma of fresh-baked bread, toffee, and espresso mingling with the woody vanilla notes of Bourbon whiskey and the rich roasted flavors wrapped with Bourbon.
